Bullard library to host bilingual literary sessions

BULLARD — An innovative method that emphasizes bilingual reading within a family setting to help improve children's reading abilities will be offered beginning Friday at the Bullard Community Library.

The free, six-week Family Bilingual Literacy Sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to noon every Friday morning at the library, located at 211 W. Main.

Sessions are funded through a grant from the U. S. Institute of Museum and Library Services and Texas State Library and Archives Commission.

Sessions will provide parents with resources to encourage good reading habits among their children while discovering new children's reading material, meeting other families and creating a family album, according to a release from A Circle of Ten, Inc., through whose “Gateway to Libraries” initiative the sessions are sponsored.

Bilingual “lectura” books will be available at partner libraries, and introduced the weekly sessions.

The books are available in Infant Books, Pre-K Books and Elementary Level Books.

In addition to the family sessions, regular adult ESL classes are offered weekly at the Bullard Library from 4-6 p.m., while GED classes are held weekly from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays.
