Double 18-wheeler wreck snarls morning traffic

JACKSONVILLE — No injuries were reported Monday morning after an 18-wheel tractor-trailer bore the brunt of damage when it collided with a logging truck in front of it, according to Jacksonville Police officer Matthew Odom. The wreck occurred at the intersection of Jackson and Canada streets.

A logging truck with a full load that had been traveling in the northbound lane of Jackson Street was stopped at the intersection for a red light, when a second vehicle – a tractor-trailer carrying what looked to be an oversized pipe for Cunningham Ranch of Cisco – “basically rear-ended and hit the logs on the back of the truck,” Odom said. While the logging truck did not sustain damages, the second 18-wheeler had to be towed from the scene because logs had impaled the front end of the vehicle. Odom said the driver and the two passengers inside the second vehicle did not report injuries but “seemed more shaken up than hurt.” Units from the Jacksonville Fire Department and TxDOT also responded to the wreck.
