CUNEY — Police are still looking for three men involved in the aggravated robbery of a Cuney liquor store Tuesday night.
Police Chief Michael Trawick said that just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, three African-American men, dressed all in black, approached the Arun Rise Liquor Store on Hwy. 175 from the wooded area to the west of the store.
The men confronted store owners and an employee in the parking lot, holding a gun to the face of a female employee and shoving a male employee to the ground. That employee was treated for minor bruising associated with his fall at a local hospital and later released.
Chief Trawick said the men made off with at least "several hundred" dollars in cash and escaped back into the wooded area.
While the men made their escape, store owners called the police.
According to the Chief, the three men then got into a car parked on CR 3509, driven by 27-year-old Bridjhuna Rashaye Thirkill of Jacksonville. Local law enforcement was nearby, Chief Trawick said, and intercepted their vehicle as it turned west onto Hwy. 175.
The three men in the car jumped out and ran into the woods, according to the Chief, but Thirkill was arrested and booked into Cherokee County jail on charges of aggravated robbery.
The Cuney police are looking for a man named Fitzgerald DeWayne Allen, of Frankston.
"We think he has pertinent information to being there or being involved," Chief Trawick said.
Police were still looking for Allen and the other men Wednesday morning.
Owners of the store confirmed police accounts of the incident on Wednesday morning, but declined to give further comment while the investigation is pending.
