JACKSONVILLE — Willie Mae Scott, 93, is the latest Jacksonville resident to benefit from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs’ “HOME” Grant, which allows new houses to be built in place of some of the community’s most economically disadvantaged lodgings. The keys to her home at 203 West Lincoln Street were handed to her Tuesday by Jacksonville Mayor Kenneth Melvin. City Manager Mo Raissi and Public Works Director Will Cole have said the quality of these new homes is a point of great pride for both the residents and city officials. The improvements were enacted thanks to the program offered by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs that provides quality living accommodations to low-income citizens.
