Marshals snag man wanted on sex assault warrants

JACKSONVILLE — The U.S. Marshals Service tracked down and arrested 49-year-old Kevin Ray Morris of Jacksonville on three separate felony warrants recently, according to a news release from the Jacksonville Police Department.

Morris had two outstanding warrants for continuous sexual assault of a young child and one for aggravated sexual assault of a child. The JPD obtained warrants in October 2013, after investigating Morris for sex offenses against children, the release stated.

The Tyler division of the U.S .Marshals Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force adopted the investigation this past week.

The Marshals determined that Morris had fled from Jacksonville in October and was now living in Orwell, Ohio.

After the leads were developed, the U.S. Marshals Task Force in Cleveland arrested Morris this past Friday in Ohio.

According to the release, Morris attempted to evade arrest by riding an ATV into a heavily wooded area, but he was quickly apprehended.

Morris is waiting to be extradited to Texas for the charges, the release said.
