Here comes the MUD!

And I say: 'It's all right .....'

Mudding. Mud bogging. Mud racing. Whatever you want to call it.

This beloved off-road motor sport will be in full effect locally Nov. 14-17, when the “2013 Mudaholics Convention” at River Run transforms the area into a magnificent, muddy, maniacal mess.

Scads of aficionados are expected to descend on the Jacksonville area for the event. So for those of you who intend to here should not forget to bring their Bubba Rope! (In case you get stuck.)

"Make sure you get those rides ready to get dirty so we can capture it on film," representatives of Xtreme Mud Magazine emphatically state online. "You never know, you might just be the one in the 2013 Mudaholics Article!"

Quipped poster Debi Pigg: "Will mud be served?"

Texas Country Western Music Artist Kevin Fowler – whose latest single "How Country Are Ya," debuted in September – will perform at the event as will the acclaimed Cody Johnson and the Moonshine Bandits.

By all indications, four-wheel drivers from pretty much everywhere have been hankering to participate in this event for some time. There has been a fairly regular countdown to the event online.

"Seven DAYS until Mudaholics 2013!!!!" River Run ATV Park exuded on Facebook in some such Nov. 7 update.

Incidentally, the aforementioned "Bubba Rope" is described as "a tougher kind of recovery rope, made from military specs for safely pulling off-road vehicles out of mud, sand or snow.”

Specs indicate the Bubba Rope is “the only snatch rope with a polymer coating." (In case you were wondering.)

The enthusiasm for this event is reflected everywhere, especially in many River Run ATV Park posts on Facebook:

"For those of you coming out to the park today," park officials wrote. "WOW we have plenty of water and mud for you and Mudaholic Convention will be AWEEESOMEE!"

More information as it becomes available.
