CHEROKEE COUNTY — The Cherokee County County Sheriff's Department worked a series of area burglaries between Nov. 11 and Nov. 15, according to reports released this week.
The incidents reported by the sheriff's department includes:
• On Nov. 11, a Monday, a deputy responded to a residence in the 7000 block of CR 1201 outside Rusk in reference to a burglary. The homeowner reported that she left for work at 7 a.m. and returned home at approximately 10 p.m. that night. Upon pulling into the driveway she noticed that an 18 foot flatbed trailer was missing from in front of the house. Upon entering her residence, she noticed that her 42 inch TV and DVD player had been stolen from her bedroom. After the deputy arrived, the doors and windows to the residence were checked and found that all the doors and windows were locked with the exception of one window at the rear of the residence. This appeared to have been where the suspects made entry to the residence.
The items stolen from inside the residence were a Vizeo Brand 42 inch flat screen TV ($460) and a small unknown brand DVD player ($30). The 18ft flatbed trailer was black in color with wooden decking. The trailer had been loaded with un-cut timbers that were going to be cut into firewood. Estimated total value, approximately $2,200. • Between midnight on Tuesday, Nov. 12 and noon Wednesday November 13, unknown suspects entered into a residence in the 19,000 block of Highway 110 south of Troup. The owner of the property was not living at the residence, but using it primarily as a storage area for his tools and equipment. A storage shed on the property was broken into as well as the mobile home. The property owner stated that he had been at the property the previous evening, and when he returned he noticed tire tracks leading up to the mobile home. At the mobile home, he immediately noticed a window broken out on the storage shed, and a padlock cut from the door to the mobile home. Among the items listed as stolen were: ° Dewalt brand, 4" grinder, yellow & black in color, valued at $145 ° 2 - Dewalt brand, 3/4" and 1/2" drive electric drills, valued at $200 ° Dewalt brand Sawzall, valued at $200 ° Stihl brand, 18" bar chain saw, valued at $450 ° 20' aluminum extension ladder, valued at 145 ° 90' spool of Romax electrical wire (3 strand), valued at $260 ° Craftsman brand chopsaw, valued at $35 ° 2 - 15" travel trailer tires, valued at $160 ° Miscellaneous other hand and power tools Estimated total value, approximately $2,000. • On Friday November 15, a deputy responded to the burglary of a building in 15600 block of Highway 135 south of Troup. The owner of the property reported that he had last been on the property around 6 p.m. on Thursday and returned on Friday around 4 p.m.. The owner stated that he had a 25 foot camper trailer that had been parked on the side of a large metal building when he left and the doors to the metal building were closed. Upon returning to the property the camper trailer was gone and the doors to the building were open. The owner discovered that there were three electric air compressors missing from inside the building; a Craftsman, 20 gallon upright on wheels; a Black Max, 20 gal upright; and a Craftsman, 5 gallon pancake style. The camper trailer is described as a bumper pulled, 25 foot "Skeeter" brand. Estimated total value, approximately $3,700.
