Cherokee County man dies in Tuesday vehicle accident

TROUP — A 31-year-old oil field worker from Troup was killed this week when his 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck ran off the road four miles east of New Summerfield and struck a tree, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported.

Gabriel Moreno-Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:11 p.m. Tuesday accident by Precinct 4 Cherokee County Justice of the Peace Vera Foreman. according to reports.

His body was taken to Autry Funeral Home, 1025 Texas 456 Loop, in Jacksonville.

The accident occurred when westbound driver Moreno-Sanchez — who was wearing a seatbelt at the time — apparently lost control and drove off the road along U.S. 79.

No further information regarding the accident was immediately available Friday.
