RUSK – A Cherokee County Grand Jury has indicted Joshua O'Bryan Gasaway, 32, of Alto on two charges of injury to the elderly and a pair of charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The indictment was handed up May 29, according to court documents.
Gasaway allegedly assaulted Jean and Judy Williams on Feb. 23 as they went to investigate an alarm going off on their property, located just outside of Alto.
According to reports, Gasaway fled after Judy Williams began firing shots in his directions with a gun owned by the couple. Law enforcement agents searched the area the night of the attack but were unable to track down Gasaway.
He was later located and arrested on March 4 on charges of injury to the elderly.
Gasaway remains in the Cherokee County Jail on bonds totaling $550,000, according to jail records.
