Bullard Police Department officials recovered several stolen firearms and charged two men with burglary of a habitation this week.
According to Captain Jeff Bragg, police received a report in the 900 block of Redbud Lane on Saturday, Aug. 25, of a stolen safe.
"They had forced entry into a residence and took a safe that contained a bunch of guns," Bragg said.
The firearms were located in "different locations in the area." The safe was found on the side of the road in eastern Smith County, Bragg said.
Malik Jamal Barb, 17, of Bullard, and Ty Jalon Taymont Crayton, 18, of Tyler, were both arrested and charged with burglary of a habitation. They were transferred to Smith County Jail, and a $10,000 bond was set for each. Bragg added that while Crayton's listed address is in Tyler, he was a graduate of Bullard High School.
A total of nine firearms were recovered. Bragg said the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are pending.
