RUSK – County leaders are laying the groundwork for a March 3 primary election, meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Cherokee County Courthouse in Rusk to consider approval of several election-related items. According to a meeting agenda, the Commissioners' Court will consider a joint resolution and statistical information for a joint Primary 2020 election, as well as separate contracts with Republican and Democratic parties, which have candidates in the March primary. A separate, but related, item calls for approval of moving the Precinct 14 polling location to Craft Baptist Church, the agenda stated. The court also will: • Consider laying utility lines in each precinct; • Present service awards to county employees; • Consider approval of the Sheriff Department's monthly report; and • Consider approval of a consent agenda that contains the court's meeting minutes; monthly reports from License & Weight, Pct. 2 Constable Jack White, the county auditor and the county treasurer; and authorization of payment of bills, payroll and transfer of funds.
