No injuries have been reported from an early morning fire Saturday at the Fast Fuels convenience store on South Jackson Street, according to the Jacksonville Fire Department.
Jacksonville 911 dispatchers were alerted by a passing motorist at 3:46 a.m. "that they could see flames on the roof of a local gas station," and several units were immediately dispatched, according to a post on the JFD Facebook page.
The first unit arrived on site at 3:53 a.m., "and advised that flames were visible on the roof and on the 'A' side of the structure."
Hand lines were employed after determining no occupants were inside the building, and a "Ladder 1 was utilized for roof operations," with the fire quickly under control, the post stated. "Salvage operations were performed in order to minimize loss for the business and units cleared by 06:40, with the Fire Marshall remaining on scene to investigate."
The fire is remains under investigation.
