Twenty-three students from Jacksonville ISD will represent the district as members of the Student Ambassador Team during the 2019-20 school year.
The students, ranging in grades three through twelve, began the process in April when the nomination period opened for JISD staff to recommend students for the prestigious team. Students may also nominate themselves with an essay about why they would like to be an Ambassador.
Once the nomination period closes, administrators on each campus are required to narrow the list down to five students to be interviewed on the elementary and intermediate campuses, and ten on the middle and high school campuses.
The Ambassador Team sponsors review and interview each candidate over a week-long period. The selected team members are announced at the end of May.
The Team represents the school district in the community with monthly visits to various groups and organizations for the purpose of community outreach. These students are enthusiastic and eager to relay their school experiences to those in the community who may not have opportunities to see and hear about new and positive programs happening within Jacksonville ISD.
Ambassadors make their first appearance of the year at JISD Convocation on August 16, 2019, where all staff gathers at the John Alexander Gymnasium to kick-off the 2019-20 year.
Ambassadors will open the program with a greeting for over 1,000 staff members and community leaders, as well as lead the pledges, National Anthem, and the Invocation.
