City of Jacksonville officials will hold their first public hearing Tuesday for the proposed tax rate of 0.6900 for the 2019-2020 fiscal year budget.
Four other public hearings will also be held during the regular council meeting, slated for 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.
The council will hear and receive input on the annexation of 19-plus acres north of Jacksonville; hear and receive information for a zone change form “D-Multi-Family” to “B-One and Two Family” for 532 S. Bolton St.; hear and receive information for a zone change with special use permit to allow for an animal shelter at 601 Woodlawn Avenue; and hear and receive information on request by JEDCO to correctly align the zoning at approximately 700 block of CR 4102 within the Thomas Quevado survey to allow for future manufacturing/commercial development.
With exception to the tax rate public hearing, each public hearing will be considered for action afterwards, respectively.
In other business, the council will discuss and consider possible action for a resolution entering into a financing contract with Government Capital Corporation (via Southside Bank) for the purpose of financing a combination sewer cleaning truck.
A second reading of a resolution in support of economic development incentives will be given, and the council will consider action on these incentives.

Approval of minutes for the regular council meeting on July 9, budge workshop on Aug. 2, budget workshop on Aug. 3 and agenda workshop on Aug. 8;
Consideration of closing Bonner Street between Wilson and Commerce streets from 4 p.m. to midnight for the Bull Bash Street Dance on Sept. 27;
Approval of the Cherokee County Appraisal District 2020 budget;
Approval of the Jacksonville Economic Development 2020 budget; and
Approval of an interlocal agreement with East Texas Council of Governments for 911 services.
Special presentations will be given to recognize heroism by Jacksonville Police Department Officer Quincy Hamilton and for the “Employer of the Month” - Builder's Best.
