Piney Woods Fine Arts Association has a spectacular lineup planned for the upcoming season in our continued effort to bring world-class entertainers and artists to Houston County!
Our first event is “Chicks with Hits!!” on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, country music artists, Pam Tillis, Terry Clark and Suzy Bogguss join forces performing live as part of the “Chicks with Hits” tour. You won’t want to miss this guitar-pull style acoustic show where Terri, Pam and Suzy will come together and play your favorite hit songs from their legendary careers. The show is sponsored by Citizens National Bank & Dean Insurance.
OktoberFest! with Brave Combo is Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at the Houston County Airport. Dance until you drop with Texas’ own Brave Combo, as they take the stage at this family-friendly, Octoberfest style event! The performance is through a grant funded by TCA and sponsored by Cutshaw Chevrolet & Crockett Insurance.
The first Special Event is Tony Orlando!! Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018. No entertainer can move and excite an audience like Tony Orlando. One of America's most endearing and enduring stars, Tony brings to the stage a warmth and exhilarating energy that electrifies an audience. His concert is sponsored by Thomas L. Driskell & Associates, Inc. (Tommy & Jeanie Driskell).
The holiday season starts with the The Texas Tenors – Deep in the Heart of Christmas
On Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, The Texas Tenors return to Crockett with their holiday production “Deep in The Heart of Christmas.” The number one vocal group in the history of “America’s Got Talent” bring Christmas cheer in a fun-filled show, guaranteed to fill your heart with the holiday spirit! Their show is sponsored by Callaway-Allee Funeral Home & Coldwell Banker Pat Dickey, Realtors.
Theatre lovers don’t want to miss William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” performed Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019. One of Shakespeare's most delightful plays, “Twelfth Night” is a classic tale of reckless revenge, mistaken identity and mismatched lovers. All audiences will enjoy the National Players’ fresh take on this spirited story, sponsored by H-E-B Tournament of Champions.
Join us for a wonderful production of classical ballet with the Russian National Ballet – “Cinderella,” on Sunday Feb. 17, 2019. “Cinderella,” composed by Sergei Prokofiev, is one of his most popular and melodious compositions, inspiring a great many choreographers since its inception. “Cinderella” is notable for its jubilant music, lush scenery and for the hilarious double-roles of the stepsisters, more mad than bad in this treatment. It is sponsored by The Shelor & Maurine Edmiston Charitable Foundation.
Don’t miss your chance to rock! Blood, Sweat and Tears will be live in Crockett on Saturday March 9, 2019. A twenty-first century version of one of the music world’s most popular bands; Blood, Sweat & Tears is the next chapter in a musical tale that stretches from the creativity and turbulence of the late ‘60s to the swiftly changing world of the 21st century. Hit singles include “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy”, “Spinning Wheel” and “When I Die”. Sponsored by Houston County Electric Cooperative.
The second Special Event, and closing out the season is Lee Ann Womack!! Saturday April 6, 2019. East Texas native, Lee Ann Womack is a country music singer and songwriter, upholding the classic Nashville standards of earlier generations. Her 2000 single, "I Hope You Dance" was a major crossover hit, reaching #1 on the Billboard Country Chart and the Top 15 of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her signature song. Sponsored by Sam & Ginger Gregg.
