JHS grads receive more than $55,000 in local scholarships

Lizbeth Saldana Gamez is the Jacksonville High School Class of 2020 Valedictorian. She was awarded the Texas Education Agency Honor Graduate award during the JHS Virtual Academic Awards Program, which was unveiled on Tuesday evening.

Jacksonville High School released its Virtual Academic Awards Program via social media on Tuesday evening.

Due to coronavirus (COVID-19), an in-person ceremony was not allowed to take place this year.

This year's Valadictorian is Lizbeth Saldana Gamez, who has been accepted into Texas A&M University.

Saldana received a Texas Education Agency Wavier of Tuition, which will cover her first two semesters.

Kirsten Pardo is the Class of 2020 Salutatorian. Pardo will be attending Princeton University in the fall.

The Jacksonville Education Foundation awarded Pardo the Salutatorian Scholarship, which is worth $4,000.

More than $55,000 in local scholarship money was presented to members of the graduating class.
