Special to the Progress

One in 10 Americans suffer from hearing loss. That means almost 2,000 people in Jacksonville could use help with their hearing. Chances are, you know one of them.

If so, you can make their dream of good hearing come true, thanks to the Avada Audiology and Hearing Care Center of Jacksonville.

Avada plans to give away a new digital hearing aid complete with a hearing screening, personal consultation and follow-up care to someone here who suffers from hearing loss.

To nominate someone, send a brief essay describing someone you know who would benefit from the gift of hearing. Entries may be mailed, faxed or dropped off at the Avada Audiology and Hearing Care Center of Jacksonville, 217 South Ragsdale St., Jacksonville, TX 75766.

“We know that approximately 75 percent of people with hearing loss do not wear hearing aids,” said Chris Czop, Avada’s regional director for Texas. “We know how much hearing loss affects families, especially during the holidays. So, we wanted to do our part to brighten someone’s life by giving the best we can think of — the gift of better hearing.”

The deadline to submit essays to the Gift of Better Hearing program is Dec. 15.

Avada operates more than 200 hearing care centers nationwide. For more information about Avada and its services visit the Web site at www.avada.com.
