Bullard resident Matthew Jacob McCauley, 17, was arrested by Bullard police during a traffic stop on March 14 for possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.
Resisting arrest is a Class A misdemeanor, carrying a jail term of up to one year and a fine of up to $4,000.
McCauley was also charged with a Class B misdemeanor, which carries a jail term of up to 180 days and a fine of up to $2,000, for carrying less than two ounces of marijuana.
After spending a day in the Smith County Jail, McCauley was released on bonds totaling $3,000 — $2,500 for resisting arrest and $500 for possession of marijuana.
The Jacksonville Daily Progress publishes the names of suspects who are legal adults. At age 17, McCauley is an adult.
