Jacksonville Fellowship Church will help fill a void by delivering Thanksgiving Day meals to individuals who are part of the Meals on Wheels program.

“They don't serve Thanksgiving or Christmas Day, but this is the fourth year our church has helped by providing meals,” said church member and project organizer Dorothy Rollins.

“The people from Meals on Wheels shares their client list, and let us know of (clients with special dietary needs), and we have (program) drivers who volunteer to deliver because they know the people who are getting meals,” she said.

Church volunteers usually arrive at 9 a.m., fixing up trays of prepared food for drivers to deliver to Meals on Wheels clients.

“It'll have the traditional turkey and gravy, corn, green beans cranberry sauce, rolls and salad, and we'll be serving peach cobbler for dessert,” she said.

Last year, the church provided an estimated 150 meals to clients in Jacksonville, “most who are senior citizens or disabled,” Rollins said. “We're a small church, and the Lord helps us pull this off every year.”
