Two drive-by shootings were reported to Jacksonville Police Department officials Wednesday involving homes in the 1400 block of Pineda Street and the 500 block of Lawrence Street.

According to JPD Detective Philip Grimes, just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a home for reported deadly conduct and found that a home had been fired at twice from a vehicle.

“The victim and his family heard gunfire and breaking glass and then they heard another gunshot,” Grimes said. “They were obviously frightened. The victim then walked outside but didn’t see anything.”

About 2:15 a.m. on Lawrence Street, officers responded to another shooting and discovered that it involved “the same course of events.”

A vehicle in the driveway was hit, and the home was hit twice with what Grimes said appears to be a handgun, possibly a .9 millimeter.

“We don’t have a description of the vehicle, but it is probably the same people (who committed both shootings). We’re going to need people’s help on this one, so if anybody has any information about this, please contact us,” Grimes said.

No injuries were reported during the shootings. Only property damages occurred.

Also occurring in the early morning hours of Wednesday was an auto-pedestrian accident in the McDonald’s parking lot, Grimes said.

A 21-year-old woman failed to yield the right-of-way while crossing an entrance to McDonald’s and was hit by a 2004 Chevy Malibu, driven by LaKeisha Christopher of Jacksonville. Grimes said the pedestrian was found to be at fault for the accident, but no citations were issued.

The woman was taken to East Texas Medical Center — Jacksonville were she was treated for minor injuries.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, a theft at the City Barn (old warehouse), 507 W. Frankston St. was reported. A 16-foot aluminum ladder and a saw were taken. The estimated value of the two items is $460.
