Five people were hospitalized after a violent, two-car collision Monday night in front of the Neon Country Club on Hwy. 69.

A 1994 red Ford Taurus driven by 17-year-old Brittney Lyons made a left turn out of the parking lot, attempting to travel south. But Lyons misjudged the turn lane and instead drove into the northbound inside lane of Hwy. 69, colliding head-on with a 1997 white Mitsubishi Galante driven by 19-year-old Krystal Nicole Bovard.

Lyons and passenger Jesse Lee Mims, 18, were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from their Ford Taurus.

The Mitsubishi was spun around and ended on the other side of the roadway, but passengers Bovard, Blake Allen Long, 18, and one-year-old Breeann Bovard were all wearing seat belts.

All five - including the infant - were taken to East Texas Medical Center-Jacksonville. Long was transported by East Texas EMS. All five had been released by Tuesday.

Lyons was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way.
