U.S. Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Dallas, will be here Wednesday for his first visit since August 2007. The congressman is scheduled to make stops in both Jacksonville and Rusk while in East Texas.

At 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Hensarling will be at the Tally Ho Plastics factory at 1020 S.Bolton St. to take a tour of the facility and to discuss economic issues with some of the factory employees. He will be outlining recent action taken by the legislature to provide rebates to taxpayers. He will also explain the Economic Growth Act of 2008, a proposal he has co-authored and believes will provide long-term tax relief for employers so that they can increase employment opportunities for families in East Texas.

Immediately following the Jacksonville discussion, Hensarling will travel to Rusk where he will present Lewie Byers, the Rusk Citizen of the Year, with a congratulatory statement included by Hensarling in the Congressional Record.

The presentation will be made at 10:45 a.m. at the Cherokee County Courthouse. Byers, president of the Rusk branch of Texas National Bank, is a member of the Rusk Chamber of Commerce, the Rusk Industrial Foundation, the Rusk Lions Club and previously served on the East Texas Council of Boy Scouts.
