How much money is in the jar?
To celebrate its 50th anniversary last month, Discount City recently held a contest. Business officials asked the public to guess how much currency was in a jar.
Jacksonville native W.N. Holcomb, who guessed $527, won the contest. The amount in the jar was $526.50, according to Discount City secretary Theresa Quinn.
“It was open to whoever wanted to take a guess,” Quinn said. “Doug (Crouch, Discount City Manager) was the only one who knew the amount ... he just picked it.”
Quinn said Holcomb won a gift certificate for the amount that was in the jar.
The contest ran for two weeks — the last week of March and the first week in April.
