The Cherokee County District Attorney’s office has released the grand jury indictments for January.

Those on the grand jury’s agenda who will go forward with trial were:

• Jeremie Dwayne Cobb of Rusk, accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Dec. 30, 2005;

• Jorge Lopez Diaz of Rusk, accused of aggravated sexual assault with a child on Nov. 11, 2005;

• Michael Simmons of Houston, accused of possession of a controlled substance on Aug. 5, 2004;

• Leonard Evans Burns, Jr. of Jacksonville, accused of driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age on Nov. 25, 2005;

• Manuel Martinez Escueta of Jacksonville, accused of driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age on July 3, 2005;

• Mary Owetta Perry of Jacksonville, accused of possession of a controlled substance on Feb. 25, 2005;

• Jarvis Ray Shepherd of Wells, accused of driving while intoxicated; this is a subsequent offense;

• Tyron D. Patton of Cuney, accused of driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age on Feb. 11, 2005;

• Joe Terrell Mettlen of Lufkin, accused of driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age on Nov. 26, 2005;

• Rayford Wayne Gattis of Jacksonville, accused of possession of or transport of certain chemicals with intent to manufacture controlled substances on Feb. 3, 2004 and accused of possession of controlled substance on Dec. 4, 2004;

• Ronald Dewayne Davis of Jacksonville, accused of theft less than $1,500 with two prior convictions on Dec. 12, 2005;

• Jeremy Allen Wells of Ft. Worth, accused of possession of marihuana on July 3, 2005;

• Jordan Yarbrough of Bullard, accused of possession of a controlled substance on Sept. 8, 2005;

• Billy Ray Weese of Jacksonville, accused of forgery of financial instrument X 4, on Nov. 15, 2004, Sept. 10, 2004 and Aug. 4, 2004; and

• Miguel Richard Mondano of Jacksonville, accused of possession of controlled substance on March 7, 2004.

Also appearing on the grand jury’s agenda were the following offenses, for which arrests have not been made, so defendants have not yet been named:

• theft over $1,500 on Oct. 12, 2005; and

• failure to appear on Jan. 3, 2006.
