Residents of the Jacksonville Pine Apartments in Jacksonville got a visit from some of Santa’s helpers Friday night.
The staff of the Holiday Inn Express decided to crash the senior residents’ holiday party and spread a little holiday cheer Friday.
“It’s a little bit like the ‘pay it forward’ thing,” said Keyche Lewis, sales director of Holiday Inn Express.
“Nurse aide LaRhonda Townsend brought it to our attention that there was a need to be met right here in our very own community,” Lewis said. “We were just so inspired by the many acts of benevolence that have been publicized in the Daily Progress.”
Lewis said the Holiday Inn staff assembled wellness bags for the residents and gave them out at the party.
The bags contained items like fuzzy booties, snacks and candy, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shaving cream for the men, perfume for the women, and information about how to stay healthy during cold and flu season and other good-health information.
Lewis said Holiday Inn also presented some complimentary rooms to Jacksonville Pines residents to help accommodate visiting family members during the holidays.
