There’s a new face at the Jacksonville Police Department. Officer David Michael Gayler, 28, recently joined the department, and he said becoming an officer fulfills a life-long dream.

“Now that I have achieved that goal, my next goal is to be the best officer I can be by helping others, making the community I live in safe for my family and friends and to be a role model for many young adults,” Gayler said.

Born in Lubbock and raised in Mesquite and Kaufman, Gayler, his wife and two children, ages 11 and 4, now make their home in Jacksonville.

Gayler, a 2006 Kilgore Police Academy graduate, said in his spare time he enjoys watching NASCAR and football and fishing with his children.

“I am honored to be an officer for the Jacksonville Police Department and would like to thank Chief Reece Daniel and Assistant Chief John Page for the opportunity to achieve the next goal in my life, as well as, serve the outstanding growing community of Jacksonville, Texas,” Gayler said.
