Beginning May 1, Jacksonville’s Tax Office will implement new hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. so that the office remains open during the lunch hour,” said Linda Little, Cherokee County Tax Assessor/Collector. “There have been numerous requests to keep the office open during the lunch hour, and these new hours will achieve this.”

Little reminds taxpayers that there are two other methods by which vehicles can be registered to avoid an unnecessary trip to the Tax Office. The internet website,, contains a vehicle registration link where taxpayers can pay with a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover card. There is a small fee to use this service.

Another renewal method is to send the bottom portion of the Vehicle Registration Renewal Notice, proof of insurance, correct fee, and $1 for processing to the tax office address listed on the renewal. Mail and internet renewals are processed the same day received.

“We strive to listen to our taxpayers,” Little said, “and keeping Jacksonville’s Tax Office open during the lunch hour was a result of taxpayers’ input.”
