A recent report from Rasmussen finds that a vast majority of the American people prefer to be greeted with “Merry Christmas” instead of the generic “Happy Holidays.”
The poll found that out of 1,000 surveyed, 69 percent preferred the Christmas-specific greeting and only 24 percent preferred “Happy Holidays.”
This poll shows that Liberty Counsel’s efforts to return Christmas to retail shops, schools and even nursing homes represent the mainstream thinking of the American people.
Liberty Counsel is continuing its eighth annual “Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign,” pledging to be a “Friend” to those who recognize Christmas and a “Foe” to those who censor Christmas.
Liberty Counsel has also released a “Naughty and Nice” list, which catalogs retailers who either censor (“naughty”) or recognize (“nice”) Christmas.
The list educates consumers as to which businesses are celebrating Christmas.
Several businesses that were previously on the Naughty List have moved onto the Nice List.
So far this year, Best Buy and Disney.com have embraced Christmas and switched to the Nice List, and Dick’s Sporting Goods has promised to change and include Christmas in their advertising.
Liberty Counsel was the first organization to launch the “Naughty and Nice” list a number of years ago, and since then other organizations have promoted similar programs.
Liberty Counsel encourages consumers to report the naughty and the nice by sending an email to Liberty@lc.org.
Liberty Counsel also encourages shoppers to compliment the nice stores and tell the naughty ones that you will shop elsewhere.
Liberty Counsel also offers a Christmas Action Pack, which includes educational legal memoranda to inform government officials, teachers, parents, students, employees and others that it is legal to celebrate Christmas.
Liberty Counsel has handled numerous situations which have restored Christmas to schools, public events and even a nursing home.
