REKLAW — Reklaw City Council will meet during their regularly schedule meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at city hall.

According to Mayor Bill Traweek, the council will look at the possibility of raising water rates to compete with area cities’ prices, and an upgrade to the city’s water system could make the rates go up even more.

The agenda item was tabled from the previous regularly scheduled meeting last month.

The council will also consider appointing someone to the vacant council seat, left by Johnnie Miller, former mayor pro tem.

Miller has missed three consecutive city council meetings and Texas Local Government Code 22.041 states if a member of a govermenting body is vacant for three reguluarly scheduled meetings, the member’s office is considered vacant, unless the member is sick or has obtained a leave of absense.

The council can either appoint someone to the positions or allow for individuals to file for the openings in the May 13 city council election.

In other business, the council will possibly approve the following:

• the purchase a wall map of surrounding cities and counties containing all the city’s gas ultilies lines;

• a resolution regarding E-Slate voting system requirements; and

• a pay rate for election judge and clerks for the May 13 election;

Reklaw City Council regularly meets at 6:30 p.m. each third Tuesday of the month. Meetings are open to the public and do include time for citizen comments.
