Jacksonville merchants are helping their less fortunate neighbors by participating in the Shop for HOPE project to be held on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Bargains will be offered by participating merchants when a $5 shopping pass is presented on the shopping day. Passes can be purchased in advance at the HOPE Center, 595 S. Ragsdale, with all proceeds will benefitting the programs and services offered by the organization.

This is a winning situation for both HOPE Inc. and the participating merchants. The $5 goes directly to HOPE, but ideally the merchants will see an increase in the number of customers in their stores and an increase in sales.

HOPE has been providing services to the economically disadvantaged since 1991, offering mass feeding programs, case management and the HOPE Partners in Health program, which connects the uninsured and underinsured to better healthcare.

Participating in this year’s project are Gerry’s, Love Nest, Elaine’s, May Drug, Gigi’s Gifts, Country Charm Candles, Replay, and the Linda Kay Shop.
