December 19 the Eagle Court of Honor was held at the First Methodist Church in Rusk. Eagle Scout Michael White lead Cubs from Pack No. 105 in Alto and Pack No. 405 in Rusk in a flag ceremony. Troop No. 405 scouts and cubs followed with the Scout Law candle ceremony. Eagle Scout Taylor Clay served as the voice of the Eagle to remind Lucas Turner of his trail from Scout to Eagle.

Life Scout Ryan Goldsberry served as Master of Ceremonies, and Assistant Scoutmaster Eagle Scout Harry Vanderveer convened the National Court of Honor. Eagle Scout Andrew Wright presented Lucas for his Eagle Scout award, and Scoutmaster Eagle Scout Kelly Clay presented the Eagle Charge to Lucas.

Special guest presenting awards were Gail Green from Senator John Cornyn’s office, Mayor Suzanne McCarty, Mayor Debbie White and Cub Pack No. 405 of Rusk. Lucas was presented a book of letters from President Bush and several other Presidents of the United States, many senators, Secretary of State Condelezza Rice, Governor Rick Perry, Representative Chuck Hopson and many more.

Lucas became a Scout in Troop No. 405 in 2001. Since joining the troop, he has held offices of Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader and many other offices. Merit badges earned have included Camping,Citizenship in the Community, Nation and World, Communications, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Science, Family Life, First Aid, Personal Fitness, Personal Management and Swimming, all which are Eagle Required badges. Other merit badges include: American Heritage, Animal Science, Cooking, Disabilities Awareness, Fingerprinting, Fishing, Indian Lore, Motorboating, Painting, Pulp and Paper, Safety, Shotgun Shooting, Space Exploration and Wilderness Survival.

Patches earned include Donor Awareness, Hometown USA, U.S. Heritage, Price of Freedom Trail, Texas Heritage Trail and Good Turn for America in 2004, 2005 and 2006,
