Troup VFD receives new engine

The Troup Volunteer Fire Department has taken delivery of a new, fully equipped engine. The cost was in excess of $300,000. It was placed into service this past weekend, according to officials.

The Troup VFD receives no funding from the City of Troup. It is a part of Smith County Emergency Services District No. 2. The new engine was funded by taxes collected by Smith County Emergency Services District No. 2. The expenses of the Troup VFD are funded by the Smith County Emergency Services District No. 2 and payments from the Cherokee County budget and donations.
