RUSK – A driver involved in a two-vehicle wreck Monday morning in Rusk was taken to a Jacksonville hospital with serious injuries, according a preliminary report from Rusk Police Chief Joe Williams.
“There were very serious injuries to one lady, and the other driver and a child were transported for precautionary measures to a Jacksonville hospital” following the wreck, which occurred about 7:45 a.m. Monday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and FM 2972 (in the 1300 block of North Dickinson Dr.), he said.
A Suburban operated by a female driver, and carrying a child passenger, was traveling north along US 69, while a small passenger van “appears to have been coming off the Farm-to-Market road when the vehicles collided,” he said.
The van rolled several times, going down an embankment, coming to a rest upside down. “We had to cut the driver out of the car,” Williams said. “She had serious injuries.”
An investigation is ongoing.
