RUSK – Plans for physical and security improvements throughout Rusk ISD were unanimously approved by school board members Monday during their regular meeting.
According to Superintendent Grey Burton, the project entails improving the driveways and parking lots at the junior high and high school campuses, beginning when the current school year ends, under the direction of Nacogdoches contractor Namco, Inc.
“This is a summer project, and will be completed prior to the next school year,” he said, adding cost of the project is approximately $241,000.
Meanwhile, trustees also voted to approve a $216,578 bid from KLC Video Security for the purchase and installation of security cameras throughout the district, providing better coverage of the school properties, Burton said.
No timeline was given for the project.
In other action, the board unanimously adopted a list of policy updates impacting local governance, business and support services, personnel, instruction, students, and community and governmental relations.
During the meeting, Burton announced the resignations of district diagnostician Heather Nichols and junior high teacher Donna Ragsdale.
