Jacksonville police are investigating a shooting where one person was shot in the neck Monday.
According to JPD Interim Chief Mike Alexander, officers responded about 5 p.m. to the 1000 block of San Saba Street in reference to a shots fired call.
Upon arrival, officers learned that one person had been taken to UT Health Hospital in Jacksonville. Officers then located multiple houses in the immediate area that were hit by gunfire.
During the investigation, Alexander said officers were able to determine that a fight had occurred at the location, which resulted in multiple people firing handguns.
The person injured, whose identity has not been released, was immediately flown from UT Health to another area hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.
The identities of the people involved have not been released at this time due to the active investigation.
