Funeral services for Norman Lee Stewart, 46, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Autry Funeral Home chapel, Jacksonville with Mike O’Neal, Robert Burns and David Warren officiating.

Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Maydelle.

Dr. Stewart passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, in Jacksonville.

He was born April 4, 1963, in Kilgore, Texas, to Ray Sanders Stewart and Nancy Louise Seymore Stewart.

Lee Stewart loved God, family and friends. He was devoted to his family, his church family, and his SFA family. He earned a Bachelor of Business degree at SFA, his Master of Educational Leadership degree at SFA, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Baylor University. Dr. Stewart had been a minister in Arizona and New Mexico before moving home to Jacksonville in 1991, where he was the minister of Southside Church of Christ. He was presently a member of Jacksonville Church of Christ and preached for the congregation. He was a full-time assistant professor at SFA for the past six years. He will be loved and missed dearly.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents J. W. and Nonnie Stewart, grandmother Ruthie Strickland, father-in-law G. W. O’Neal, niece Ellen O’Neal and uncle Alonzo Seymore.

Survivors include wife of 27 years Sandra Stewart of Jacksonville; parents Ray and Nancy Stewart of Jacksonville; daughters Amanda Kay Stewart and Amy Lee Stewart of Jacksonville; brothers James Stewart and Tanya Fowler of Corsicana and Paul Stewart and wife Maggie of Rusk; mother-in-law Glennis O’Neal of Zavala; brothers-in-law Stan O’Neal and wife Joellen of Houston, Mike O’Neal and wife Nancy of Wichita Falls and Kenneth O’Neal and wife Lisa of Houston; nephews and nieces Wesley Stewart and Dakota Stewart, Stephanie Stewart, Christina Gutierrez and husband Roberto, Sarah Andrews, Aaron O’Neal, Megan O’Neal, Kendra O’Neal and Chase O’Neal; great nephews and nieces Braeden and Taylor Gutierrez and Julia and Victoria Andrews; and several cousins.

Pallbearers will be Roger Warren, Stan O’Neal, Kenneth O’Neal, Ed Bruce, David Stewart, Mike Beard, Lyndon Holmes, Tommy Griffin, Trey Rousseau and Russell Stafford.

The family will receive friends from 6–8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
