Chance Gibbs

It’s happened.

After countless trips to the theater to enjoy the latest new release, I’ve found my favorite movie of 2019.

Much to my surprise, it isn’t even a horror flick!

Nope, instead it’s all about speed.

James Mangold’s “Ford v Ferrari” is a cinematic masterpiece and an all-American adrenaline rush from start to finish.

The film stars Matt Damon, as automotive icon Carroll Shelby (of Shelby Mustang fame), and Christian Bale, as racing legend Ken Miles, as two members of an American racing team put to the task of building the Ford GT40 to beat Ferrari in France at the world famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1966.

With Carroll Shelby’s vision and expertise, Ken Miles’ perfect driving precision and feel for his automobile, and Henry Ford II’s money, nothing could go wrong, right?

Wrong.

The film may be about a famous car race, but the real race in the film happens behind the scenes.

Egos, tempers and titles fly all the way from the mechanic working on the vehicle to the top of The Ford Motor Company, and I was sitting on the edge of my seat through each and every heat.

The film has zero dull moments and it is one of the few films I’ve seen that I didn’t want to end.

I could have sat in that theater another hour or two and not even noticed the time. That’s how good this movie is.

It’s jam packed with incredible performances, intense drama, just the right amount of comedy, and a whole lot of car racing.

If you plan on taking in a movie over the holiday season and are up for one that doesn’t have a Christmas theme, I would highly recommend this film.

If you don’t catch it on the big screen, please watch it when it’s available to rent or stream at home.

I promise you, you will love it.

It truly is a film for everyone.
