Alto's Irvin selected as Defensive Player of the Week

ALTO — By holding previously undefeated New Diana to a net of just three total yards for the game on Friday, the Alto defensive unit made it presence known in a colossal way.

The Yellowjackets moved to 3-0 after clobbering the Eagles, 50-0.

Cayle Irvin, a senior middle linebacker, for the third time this season, finished with double-digit tackles (10) to earn the Jacksonville Progress Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Irvin also had three tackles for loss, a quarterback sack and an interception.

Alto will travel to Garrison for a date with the Bulldogs on Friday.
