Area Hoops Roundup: Fletcher hits 17 in latest Guard victory

BOYS

T.K. Gorman 50, Brook Hill 37: TYLER — In a TAPPS District 3-5A opener that was played on Monday at Haddad Gymnasium in Tyler, Bishop T. K. Gorman beat Brook Hill, 50-37. The Crusaders (11-10, 1-0) dumped in six triples compared to two by the visitors. Sid Cleofe's 15 points made the Crusader the game's leading scorer. Joseph Johnson and William Roberts tossed in nine each for the Guard (11-7, 0-1). Adding five points apiece for the Guard was Noah Langemeier and Grayson Murry.

 

Brook Hill 58, Tyler Hear 45: BULLARD — Propelled by Chandler Fletcher's 17 points, Brook Hill managed to cool off the Tyler Heat, winning 58-45 on Tuesday at Herrington Gymnasium. Other members of the Guard (12-8, 0-10) to hit in double figures included William Roberts (14) and TyJuan Cannon (13). Brook Hill will return to league play at 8 p.m. Friday by visiting Dallas Christian.

 

Wells 65, Centerville 59: WELLS — The Pirates of Wells evened their District 28-1A record at 3-3 on Tuesday evening at Pirate Gymnasium by polishing off Centerville, 65-59. Centerville now stands 2-3 in conference play. Wells will journey to Laneville on Friday (6:30 p.m.).

 

GIRLS

Alto 60, New Summerfield 37: NEW SUMMERFIELD — In a game that was postponed from Friday, due to severe weather passing through, Alto was able to successfully open the district portion of its schedule on Monday evening. The Lady Jackets (15-10, 1-0) slammed New Summerfield, 60-37, at the New Summerfield Coliseum. Alto is slated to travel to Gary on Friday night.

 

Fairfield 68, Rusk 50: RUSK — Rusk was upended by Fairfield, 68-50, in its District 19-4A lid lifter on Tuesday evening. Fairfield (23-3, 2-0) soared out to a 30-11 lead at the break in route to victory. Rusk (10-10, 0-1) will travel to Mexia on Friday.
