PALESTINE — Rusk ran its record to 3-2 on the year after going 2-2 in the Palestine Ladycat Tournament late last week.

The Lady Eagles played three matches on Thursday and started the day with a 2-1 loss to White Oak.

The Lady Eagles bounced back to stop Trinity, 2-0, but ended the first day of tournament play by falling, 2-1, to Cayuga.

On Saturday Rusk shutout Troup, 2-0, in its final match of the tourney.

Its back on the road Tuesday for the Rusk girls. They are scheduled to visit Diboll at 6:30 p.m.


Troup still looking for first win

The Lady Tiger volleyball team is in rebuilding mode this year after extremely heavy losses to graduation.

Troup found the going tough in the Palestine Ladycat Tournament (Thur., Sat.) where the Lady Tigers lost to Class 5-A Marshall, Cumberland Academy and Class 4A Rusk, all by identical 2-0 margins.

Troup is led by seniors Hadley Derrick, Josie Martin, Alyssa Adamic and Maryisa Gilliam.

At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday Troup will entertain the Lady Bulldogs from Garrison in the home opener.
