Awesome accomplishments

On August 17 the RIPL Raw Iron Classic and The NGA Texas Punisher was held in Mount. Pleasant. Two of Jacksonville’s own went to compete and brought home hardware.

Competing in the RIPL Raw Iron Classic in squat, bench press, and deadlift these two came out on top. Jacksonville High School freshman Ethan Mathis brought home first place in the teen division. West Side Elementary School resource/inclusion teacher Teri Ivey captured first Master’s Woman lifter and took the Overall Women’s lifter as well.

Ivey has received an invitation compete at the 2019 Olympia Pro Powerlifting Championships in Las Vegas on Sept. 13-14. Only 30 people from across the world will compete in the bench press competition, which Ivey qualified for in her weight and age group (132 weight class in the 45-49 age group).

Both athletes train at the Raw Iron Gym in Jacksonville and are preparing for the next chance they get to bring home more hardware to Jacksonville.
