Alejandra Barreientos scored three goals to propel Jacksonville to a 4-1 District 35-4A victory over Center in a match played at Roughrider Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Barrientos’ first score turned out to be the lone goal of the opening half.
Lauren Eyre scored on a penalty kick which was framed around Barrientos’ two-additional goals in the final 40 minutes of play.
Center (0-2 in district) was able to slip a goal across late in the match to spoil Jacksonville goalkeeper Kali Finch’s shutout.
“We moved the ball well against Center and played really good, especially considering the field conditions that we faced,” Jacksonville head coach, Kiff Wiemers said. “The only thing that didn’t like was that we had a momentum lapse late and that allowed them to score a goal.’
The Maidens improve to 4-6-5, 2-0 in district, and were scheduled to have hosted Palestine Monday night.
