The Lon Morris College men’s basketball joined 10-other Texas JUCO squads in this week’s NJCAA national poll which was released on Monday.

Head coach Dale Dotson’s group owned a 9-1 overall record (0-1 in Region XIV) heading into Wednesday night’s game against Lee College.

LMC checked in at No. 30 this week after posting victories over Baton Rouge (La.) Community College and the Texas Riders (non-NJCAA) last weekend in the Coca Cola/Guy Davis tournament in Lufkin.

The highest ranked team from the Lone Star state is San Jacinto (11-0) at No. 5 with Howard College (9-1) checking in at No. 8 followed by Trinity Valley (11-0) at No. 9.

In 14th is Odessa College (11-1) with Midland College (9-2) occupying the No. 18 position.

Other Texas schools showing up in the weekly ranking are, McLennan (10-1, 20th), Paris Junior College (9-0, 24th), Western Texas College (11-0, 26th) and Lamar State-Port Arthur (8-0) and Panola College (10-1) who are deadlocked for 28th.

San Jacinto, Trinity Valley, Paris JC,  Lamar State-Port Arthur, Panola and Lon Morris are all members of Region XIV, with the remaining schools being based in Region V.
