FRISCO — The Brook Hill Guard gave new skipper Jerry Courtney a win at first asking on Monday.
The Guard carved out a 7-2 triumph over Frisco-Legacy Christian Academy in the season opener for Brook Hill.
The Guard led 1-0 after one complete, but the Eagles (1-1) plated two runs in the bottom of the second to move ahead of the visitors.
The LCA advantage didn't last long as Brook Hill plated a lone run in the top of the third, and then tacked on five insurance runs in the fifth inning to seal the deal.
Seth Moss, batting lead off for the Guard, went 3 for 4, scored three runs and had a run batted in. He also stole a pair of bases.
Aidan Mason went 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI, and Carson Richards stroked a couple of base hits in four official trips.
Boone Evans and Mason York combined to toss a three-hitter for Brook Hill, with both of the Eagle runs being unearned.
Evans worked 4.2 frames and fanned five while not walking anyone and not allowing a hit.
York surrendered three hits, walked three, and struck out a trio of Eagle batters.
Brook Hill will host Colleyville-Covenant Christian at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Guard's home opener.
