Bullard, ranked No. 8 in Class 3A. barely worked up a good sweat on Tuesday as the Lady Panthers decimated the Lady Dragons of Nacogdoches 72-42 in opening-day play of the Cougar-Patriot Classic at the University of Texas-Tyler.

The Lady Panthers (15-5) took the suspense out of the game early on as Bullard led 32-8 after one period in coasting to the 30-point decision over the Class 4A Lady Dragons (7-10).

Bullard’s junior phenom, Minta Spears, racked up 20 points in the first stanza alone, as she led all scorers with 29 points.

Spears hit three shots from long range for the Lady Panthers.

Christian Hatten added 20 points, and nailed four long balls.

Nacogdoches was led in scoring by Charity Page with 17.

Bullard was scheduled to face Spring Hill in a semi-final game on Wednesday afternoon.

A win would send the Lady Panthers into the championship affair at noon today at the Herrington-Patriot Center.
