Bullard to hold “Bigger, Faster, Stronger”

summer program

Bullard High School will hold the “Bigger, Faster, Stronger” summer program for students entering ninth through 12th grade Monday through Thursday from 8-10 a.m. and 6-8 p.m. (except Wednesday) June 5 to July 14 at the BHS field house.

The BHS coaching staff will offer strength training and conditioning for all Bullard Independent School District athletes who will be entering ninth grade and up. The “Bigger, Faster, Stronger” program will be offered Monday through Thursday beginning June 5. There will be two sessions offered each day; one in the morning and one in the evening. An athlete can participate in only one session per day according to University Interscholatic League rules.

The BHS coaching staff strongly encourages its athletes to participate in the program. The obvious reason is for strength and conditioning, but BISD Athletic Director Rex Sharp believes the grind of the summer and the heat builds team unity and work ethic. It is important to get ready for the upcoming school year regardless of the sport an athlete participates in. Strength training, according to Sharp, is one of the most important, if not the most important, part of any athletic program. Sharp said BHS has made great strides in recent years in strength and conditioning, and he wants that to continue. Sharp said he does not want vacations or students needing to miss a few sessions to keep them from signing up because it is a six-week program that offers two sessions per day.

The cost of the program is $70 per student or $50 per student for families with two or more participants.

Contact Sharp for more information about the camp or to recieive a form, call 903-894-3272. All checks should be made payable to B.F.S. Summer Program, Attn. Rex Sharp P.O. Box 250 Bullard, Texas 75757. Forms and payments should be received by May 26.
