The Bullard Red Sox seem determined to make their final year in the Texas Teenage Baseball Association (TTBA) one to remember,  prior to heading off to join their respective high school teams next spring.

On Friday evening the Red Sox bounced back, after losing to the Chandler Rangers 15-5 in Game 1, to claim the TTBA Sophomore Boys District 7 title by knocking off the Rangers 7-2 in the title game.

The Red Sox faced a formidable task in the championship affair, having to go up against Chandler’s pitching ace.

After a week of practice this week to fine tune things and make final preparations, the Red Sox, whose roster is comprised of young men from Bullard as well as from Jacksonville, will next see action beginning on July 25 when they travel to Hillsboro for the state tournament.

Darrel Kotzur is serving as the squad’s head coach, with Greg Nolley and Brent Haliford assisting  with the coaching duties.

Red Sox team members include, Jake Langston, Cade Naegli, Kevin Hough, Reed Nolley, Jeremy MacAnally, Hunter Phelps, Travis Kotzur, Berry Burton, Cash Cleaver, Conner Mebane, Ryan Sloan and Caleb Haliford.

Cleaver was named as the district tournament’s Most Valuable Player following the championship game.

Other teams participating in the district tournament were the Frankston Indians, Bullard Reds, Whitehouse Titans and Troup-Lewis.
