Franklin, Bennett pay dividends in Tyler JC win

TYLER — Former Jacksonville Indian Dadrian “DD” Franklin caught his first touchdown pass as a college player Saturday night at Trinity Mother Francis Rose Stadium when he hauled down a 44-yard scoring strike from quarterback Randy Price that was a part of the Apaches' 49-0 romp over Southeast Prep of Houston. Another former area high school standout, Chaston Bennett of Rusk, carried 12 times for 58 yards, which was his best effort of the season. Franklin and Bennett are both freshmen. TJC (3-0) will host Blinn at 7 p.m. Saturday in a SWJCFC affair. Southeast Prep fell to 0-3 with the loss.


Bullard's Moore top Okla. State receiver in Lamar game

STILLWATER — Charlie Moore, a senior and a Bullard High School product, led Oklahoma State in receiving (4-48) as the Cowboys upended Lamar's Cardinals, 59-3, in Stillwater Saturday night. Moore, one of 13 Cowboys that had at least one reception in the game, also had a catch of 22 yards as Oklahoma St. improved to 3-0 on the year. The Cowboys are idle this week and will return to action on Sep. 28 by opening Big XII play at West Virginia.
