District 16-5A Hoops: Jacksonville to host Lufkin on Tuesday

JACKSONVILLE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

A big District 16-5A basketball varsity doubleheader will take place at the John Alexander Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

The Jacksonville Maidens and Indians will be hosting their respective counterparts from Lufkin, with the varsity girls game set to tip at 6:15 p.m., followed by the varsity boys around 7:45 p.m.

The Maidens are 12-8 overall, 3-0 in conference play, after ripping Marshall, 69-33, on Friday.

Lufkin (13-7, 3-0) is tied with Jacksonville for first place in the conference standings.

The Lady Panthers clipped Nacogdoches, 35-29, on Friday in their last outing.

The Indians (9-10, 0-1) and the Panthers (12-6, 0-1) will both be looking for their first district win on Tuesday night.

Both suffered road losses on Friday when Jacksonville bowed out to Marshall (64-55) and Nacogdoches stopped the Pack, 70-47.

On Friday teams from Jacksonville will travel to Nacogdoches.
