Changes to Tribe football coaching staff revealed

JACKSONVILLE FIGHTIN' INDIAN FOOTBALL

Summertime often means moving time for high school coaches, and while changes to the Jacksonville Fightin' Indian coaching staff has been minimal, there are a couple of not-so-new coaches that will be returning to Indian Territory shortly.

Paul Gould and Jay Brashear will be the newest members of the Jacksonville football coaching colony.

Both coached at Alto for the past several years.

Gould, a 1995 graduate of Jacksonville High School, served as athletic director and head football coach at Alto since 2013.

He will be assisting in coaching the offensive linemen at Jacksonville, according to Tribe head football coach Wayne Coleman.

Brashear's first tour of duty in Jacksonville began in 2011 when he served on Steve Wells' coaching staff.

In addition to Alto, the Stephen F. Austin State University graduate has also coached at Arp, Elysian Fields and Rusk.

“I think we did pretty well this year in retaining our assistant coaches,” Coleman said. “You always will have some change; it's inevitable. But it is nice for the kids when most of the coaches that they are accustomed to stay on.”
